Kumbh Mela here we come!
Some of you know that my colleagues and I have been involved in ESRC funded research on collective participation in Hindu pilgrimage event called Magh Mela. Our research has been published in PLoS ONE and other are coming. The funding has just finished and now some of us are going to Allahabad for some dissemination events. This is a particularly important year as it’s Kumbh Mela – bigger event than Magh Mela as it happens every 12 years and is known as the largest gathering of humanity (see these incredible photos from BBC).
